How do I know if my story is protopian?

Is it set in a world that you would want to live in? Or that you would want someone you love to live in? If the answer is yes, it’s a protopia.

What are examples of successful protopian stories?

Star Trek is probably the best example. Although there is plenty of adventure and drama, it is set in a future where many of today’s problems have been solved.

Does protopian mean it can’t have bad things happen or it needs to have a happy ending?

No! It can be sad, like Her or full of political and family drama, like Wakanda in Black Panther. Human nature remains the same, even in better futures.
